Before building the samples or using the SDK you'll need a couple standard build tools on your machine.

## Windows

* [Visual Studio 2022](https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/vs/community/) or later with the "Desktop development with C++" workload selected
* [CMake](https://cmake.org/download/) 3.15 or newer (added to your PATH during setup)

## macOS

* macOS 11.3 or later
* [Xcode](https://developer.apple.com/xcode/resources/), or install Xcode's Command Line Tools if you prefer not to use an IDE
* [CMake](https://cmake.org/download/) 3.15 or newer (via Homebrew or otherwise)

## Linux

* C++20 compiler (GCC 11 or newer, or recent Clang), or if you're using the C API, any C17 compiler works
* [CMake](https://cmake.org/download/) 3.15 or newer (via apt or otherwise)
* If building the platform sources, you can install dependencies on Ubuntu via `sudo apt install libx11-dev libxext-dev libfontconfig1-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libpulse-dev`
